Junior Sorensen - Lincoln KS
10/16/1929 - 10/20/2019

Abraham Lincoln Sorensen, Jr., (Junior or A.L.), 90, of Lincoln, KS, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019, in Lincoln. He was born on the homestead farm north of Denmark, Kansas , on October 16, 1929, to Abraham Lincoln Sorensen, Sr. (Linc) and Mae E. Webb Greene Sorensen. Junior grew up with two loving sisters, Edith and Rosie, two beloved half sisters, Genevieve (Jenny) and Betty, and two loved half brothers, Leonard and Dayle.

He attended Denmark Grade School and then graduated from Vesper High School in 1947. Junior helped out on the farm and enjoyed playing baseball with the Lincoln Hawks team until 1950, when he entered the U.S. Navy. He served in the Navy from 1950-1953, and he frequently mentioned that those were some of the most interesting years of his life.

On January 15, 1954, Junior married Bessie Sheldon Sorensen and to this union were born two children, Gary and Kay. Junior and Bessie lived on the family farm north of Denmark, and during these years on the farm, neighbors Clarence and Hulda Lessor were dear friends and like family to the young couple in helping them begin the farming business. In the early 2000’s, Junior retired, and he and Bessie moved to Lincoln. During the 1980’s, five grandchildren were born, and the two grandparents thoroughly loved watching the grandchildren grow up. In 2002, Junior’s loving wife, Bessie, went on to her heavenly home. Since that point, twelve great grandchildren have been born for Junior to enjoy.

Preceding Junior in death were his wife Bessie, his parents Linc and Mae, his sister Edith Sheldon, his half brothers Leonard and Dayle Greene, his half sister Betty Lawson, and his great grandson Luke Steinle.

Left to mourn his passing are his half sister Jenny Landgren, sister Rosie Girton, children Gary Sorensen (Ruth) and Kay Steinle (Curtis), grandchildren Nathan Steinle (Kate), Eric Steinle (Carrie), John Sorensen (Dena), Sara Rosebrook (Michael), Janna Weber (Brandon), and eleven great grandchildren. Also very dear to Junior were his friends. The family will remember the heartfelt care offered by his good friends, Debra Parmenter and Leigh Geyer.
